Ctrip Launches Last-Minute Hotel Booking Deals In China

Ctrip, China's largest online travel booking company, has launched a last-minute accommodation booking service for the Christmas, New Year, and Chinese Lunar New Year holidays — in a move to boost sales during the holiday season.

Under the new sales campaign, Ctrip will offer discounts of 40% to 60% off published prices for more than 100 hotels in domestic cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Sanya. The offer will not list the brand but will categorize hotels by location, star rating, and user. Only after completing the reservation and payment procedures will customers will be told the exact details of the hotels that they have booked.

This is the first time that Ctrip has offered a last-minute hotel deal in mainland China although it is common practice in other markets.

Ctrip has stated that many hotels have expressed their willingness to participate in this campaign, and it is expected to benefit all parties involved.

Ctrip was founded in 1999 and was listed on Nasdaq in 2003. The company not only operates the ticket and hotel booking businesses on the Internet, but also offers offline tourism services. It currently has more than 20 million registered members.
