Alitalia Plans Direct Beijing-Rome Flight

The Italian carrier Alitalia Airlines has announced that it plans to launch direct flights between Rome and Beijing in early summer 2011, in order to meet the rising demand from the Chinese market.

The new service will mark the newly-merged carrier's entry into the Chinese market.Initially the flights on the Beijing to Rome route will be operated four times a week with triple class airbus A330/200 aircraft. As from October 1, 2011, the route will be upgraded to five per week, with flights on every day except Tuesdays and Fridays.

Alitalia Airlines operates 4,500 flights weekly across a network of 79 destinations, of which 26 are in Italy and 53 in the rest of the world.
