The Shanghai Jinshan District Government announced today that the 7th Shanghai Jinshan Tourism Festival will be held in Jinshan from September 19 – October 9.
This will be an important part of the 2004 Shanghai Tourism Festival and will cover the following themes:
"Dreams of the Sea" — Participants tour the romantic sea and sandy beach along the Jinshan coastline. Activities include a fireworks show and parades that bring together delegations from places including France, Japan, Russia, China's Yunnan Province and Jinshan District. A host of national costumes will be on show highlighting different cultures and nationalities.
"Affection for the Sea" — Tours organized for primary and middle school students and citizens in Jinshan district. The tour includes visits to Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd., helping people to learn about relevant products and the construction of an ecological park nearby.
"Moon of the Sea" — Mid-Autumn Festival activities in tune with the poem "Watching the Moon on the Beach to Share the Brightness With the One You Love" and under the theme of "Mid-Autumn Reunions, Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas compatriots are invited to drink tea, enjoy the moonlight and share their memories.
During the festival, Fengjing, an ancient town in Jinshan district, will also launch promotions targeted at travel agencies and media that provide services to foreign clients.
About Shanghai Jinshan District
Located in the southwest of Shanghai, the Shanghai Jinshan District covers 586.05 square kilometers, with 14 towns and a population of 550,000. Previously known as Jinshan County, and established 277 years ago, Jinshan District now covers Jinshan County and the Sinopec Shanghai Jinshan Industrial Company. It was the first district to be established on the outskirts of Shanghai on 12 May 1997.
