Shangri-La's popular annual China Roadshow is now under way–its central theme, using the group's new TV ad slogan Find Your Shangri-La, showcases its 19 China properties and 15 sister properties across Asia Pacific.
Taking place between 3rd and 9th of June in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, Shangri-La 2004 China Roadshow expects to attract an attendance of almost 2,000 people. The roadshow will offer corporate clients and travel agents from Beijing, Guangzhou Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuxi to hear personally about Shangri-La's latest development and discuss future business opportunities.
It is a great success that 34 Shangri-La and Traders hotels out of the group's 42 properties are taking part in the roadshow this year, commented Sunny Paw, Shangri-La's vice president sales and marketing China. As the world increasingly looks towards China as a travel and business destination, and with outbound travel is growing tremendously, esp. to Asia Pacific, the country has been Shangri-La's significant market, and our hotels are well placed in the region to cater to the traveller's needs. He added.
Shangri-La 2004 China Roadshow introduces the new hotel projects in China, which account for more than 50% of all Shangri-La's new properties currently under development. Mainland China will see more than 10 new Shangri-La and Traders hotels open over the next three years, including Chengdu, Guangzhou, Haikou, Guilin Ningbo, Sanya, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Meanwhile, two new hotels will open this year in Changzhou and Fuzhou.
The roadshow also stresses the introduction of Shangri-La's new toll free lines in mainland China both for individual travellers and meeting planners. Customers can make bookings of any Shangri-La or Traders hotel by dialing 10 800 852 5900(callers from northern China), or 10 800 152 5900(callers from southern China). Meeting planners can dial 800 810 2223 for meeting group bookings at any of the group's hotels and be connected to hotel's meeting specialists, which provides an excellent conduit for meeting planners. The group's newly launched MICROS-Fidelio's OPERA Central Reservations and Customer Information Systems, which is an investment of US$3 million, is also highlighted during the roadshow.
Also as part of the roadshow, a mini travel mart promoting Shangri-La's non-China properties, including its new hotels in Sydney and Dubai, will be organised respectively for travel trade in Beijing at the China World Hotel on 3 June, in Shanghai at Pudong Shangri-La on 7 June and in Guangzhou at the Garden Hotel on 9 June.
Shangri-La China Roadshow has seen consistent growth since its inception seven years ago. The event is designed to update corporate and travel trade about Shangri-La's latest development with presentations conducted during the luncheons and evening cocktails.
