According to local media, Dalian plans to build several hotels in the Xinghaiwan Area.

These hotel projects are: the Phase 2 project of the Coastal International Convention & Exhibition Centre which includes supporting hotel and business apartments, all of which are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009; the current Xinghai Castle will be renovated as a hotel, with plans to open in 2009; a high-end hotel under the brand of Grand Hyatt, with supporting serviced apartments and business facilities, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009.

In addition, a project consisting of two star-grade hotels and two business apartments with investment from a Hong Kong's company is expected to be completed by the end of this year; as will a hot spring hotel.
