CAAC To Support Medium And Small Domestic Airports

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has announced that the management regulation for domestic medium and small airports and regional flights' allowance and the loan discount policy have been approved by State Council.

CAAC says that the core of these new policies is that government funding of CAAC will be used for key support in the public service field and for weak development links of civil aviation sector. The allowance policy for medium and small airports is focusing on the airports with annual passenger flow of less than five million; while the regional flight' allowance policy will be emphasized on those flights with a loading factor of less than 80% within a province and an autonomous region, or those across provinces and autonomous regions with flight distances of no more than 600 kilometers.

These policies will be directed to the central western and northeast areas of China. And the loan discount policy will attach more importance to encouraging local governments and social organs to participate in civil aviation development.

Published data indicates that there are a total of 151 civil airports around China at the end of 2007.
