Air China Responds To Disaster Relief

After the earthquake, Air China says it responded quickly with disaster relief.

Earlier on May 12, Air China announced emergency plans to be in effect from 15:00pm local time. After Chengdu Shuangliu Airport closed, 12 Air China flights flying to Chengdu had been diverted to other airports. The company instructed all affected offices to implement emergency plans and take good care of stranded passengers.

On May 14, Air China allocated nine aircraft to carry relief troops into Sichuan from Zhengzhou. On the morning of May 15, 3000 relief soldiers were sent to Chengdu on time.

Air China adjusted capacity in a timely manner according to the relief situation and allocated wide-body aircraft including A330 and B777 to evacuate stranded passengers in Sichuan province. On May 15, 28 flights of Air China departed from Chengdu and another nine flights departed from Chongqing collected passengers from Jiuzhaigou.

In addition, passengers who bought Air China's tickets for flights from or to Chengdu, Chongqing, Jiuzhaigou, Mianyang, Yibin, Xichang, Panzhihua, Luzhou, Dazhou, and Wanxian or interline international flights and who traveled after May 12 could rebook or get a refund for free. Air China is informing passengers about changes of flight schedule through normal channels.

As of May 19, Air China collected about RMB600,000 special fund from all of its CPC members after it donated RMB11 million together with China National Aviation Holding Company to the disaster areas.
