Wang Yongping, spokesperson from China's Ministry of Railway, announced that the railway department won't increase the price of train tickets during this year's Spring Festival.

It is estimated that China's railway department will deliver 156 million travelers during the 2007 Spring Festival, which is an increase of 4.3% compared with that of last year. Of those travelers, 70 million will be middle and long-distance travelers, an increase of 7.2%, and 85.5 million will be short haul travelers, up 2%.

In order to meet the railway transport need around the Spring Festival, the Ministry of Railway has launched a series of new measures this year, including placing the round-trip train ticket system for students into trial operation and initiating projects for sending migrant workers safely to their home.

According to Ministry's arrangement, the Spring Festival Railway Transport 2007 Plan will begin on February 3 and end on March 14. During the 40-day period, 318 pairs of temporary trains will be added to meet the demands during the peak traveling time.
