Malaysia Airlines says its passenger seats inventory and tourism services will be offered to customers in China through China's TravelSky from the end of March 2007.
Under the agreement, about 7,000 travel agents with 35,000 terminals in 300 cities in China, will have access to MAS' flights and ticket booking reservation system, Kommas, and its net fares through the computer reservation system operated by TravelSky.
All Billing Settlement Plan travel agents in China will also have access to the comprehensive distribution system which allows them to streamline and consolidate all bookings and subsequent settlement to MAS.
MAS commercial director Datuk Rashid Khan said currently, 70% of the airline's sales in China are derived from travel agents.
The partnership will include co-training and other co-marketing activities for the Chinese travel agents to better understand MAS' products and services. Moving forward, the TravelSky system will facilitate all MAS' reservations needs in China including the Passenger Services System and e-ticketing by the end of this year.
MAS currently operates 56 weekly passenger flights between Malaysia and five cities in China with a total capacity of 14,570 seats in each direction.
