The Hunan Provincial Government has decided to renovate all Hengshan Mountain scenic spots in order to protect the environment and realize sustainable tourism development.
As a result, all the hotels and inns inside the scenic spots will be asked to close and relocate.
In recent years, with the increase of construction and business facilities in Hengshan Mountain scenic spots, the natural scenery there has been destroyed. This is why the government has decided to cleanse the travel market there.
The Hunan Provincial Government has required all the hotels and inns in the scenic spots to stop business and dispose of their goods before February 15 and move out before July 1, 2007 when the area will be covered by plants and the remaining buildings renovated. All the residents there are required to move out by 2010.
In the process, 434 residents and 28 buildings with a total of 55,900 square meters need to be moved. The whole relocation project is estimated to cost RMB230 million.
