According to the 2006 travel agency annual inspection results released by the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau, 45 of the 950 travel agencies in Guangdong Province have failed to pass their yearly inspections.

Of those 45 travel agencies, 13 had their domestic travel agency business licenses revoked.

Professor Yu Longyu from Shenzhen University has told local Chinese media that this inspection shows that the competition among travel agencies in the province has become fiercer and travel agencies that have poor management will soon disappear.

With RMB1.3 billion, the statistics show that Guang Zhi Lv Travel Agency earned the highest revenue among all the Guangdong travel agencies in 2006. Only a few of the travel agencies earned over RMB100 million and most of them earned much less than that.
