  1. This past May, I was a guest at the Grand Mercure Xidan during my stay in Beijing. All my banking and cashing of traveller's checks was done at the hotel. On the 25th of May, I cashed $200 into yuan at the front desk, during my wanderings the next day , I had no problems until trying to pay for tickets at site, then my $100 yuan note was rejected, told no good. When I returned to the hotel and talked to the the front desk people, the concierge on duty was Christin, female, was rude and not very approachable re problem. Another employee at the desk said that I probably was swindled by a vendor, though the money that i was using was taken from my wallet to ticket sales. Customer service is the hallmark of good business, I found your staff– manager Mr Jeung Cheung, Christin and male front desk worker working on the 26th of May @ 1830 totally unhelpful nor considerate of my plight. Ms Christin went on the say that since it was greater than 24hrs, that it was my fault for not returning to the hotel sooner to report the matter though I got the distinct impression that nothing would be done about it anyway. I do want to note that, when I received the 100 yuan bills were not placed in the scanner prior to receipt. Ms Christin only answer was that this was a 4star hotel, and that it was impossible for this to happen. Other than this incident my stay at your facility was thoroughly enjoyable and other staff members conierge Henry during the day was very helpful. Note I stayed in other accor hotels, namely Sofitel in Xian and Shanghai, and found them very professional and courteous.(Note: they scanned bill twice before handing to customer) Ms Christin and her protege at the front desk are not of the caliber of others met at your facility. Ms Christin only told Mr Cheung what she thought was neede to say about the matter. With the Olympics coming to your city next year, I thought that this was important to note as customer service is utmost important to make an impression on world visitors. Other than this incident, I had a good time at the Accor facilities. I have also stayed at the Sofitels in the south pacific as well and was always treated professionally and courteously.
