Michael Monks has been appointed to Shangri-La Golden Flower, Xi'an as the new general manager.

A veteran hotelier with over 26 years experience in a wide variety of hotels in different countries, including as an eco-tourism consultant, Monks has been with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts for the last 12 years. Immediately prior to assuming his new position he was general manager of Shangri-La Hangzhou for seven years and general manager of Traders Hotel Manila for five years.
