Samuel Tsang is the newly appointed general manager of the Crowne Plaza Science City Guangzhou and area general manager for Guangzhou.

In this role, Tsang will be responsible for opening and operations of this 484-room hotel that is planned to open in March 2008. As area general manager for Guangzhou, he will oversee the operation of Holiday Inn City Center Guangzhou and Holiday Inn Shifu Guangzhou and coordinate the activities of three other Guangzhou hotels.

Tsang brings a wealth of experience to IHG, joining the company from Hongfu Hotels & Resorts, where he was general manager of Hongfu Hotel Xinjiang, a 305 room five-star business hotel, as well as group general manager responsible for operations of eleven Hongfu properties. Prior to that, Tsang worked in China for more than 20 years, in a number of senior management positions with upscale hotels in China, including director of operations for Best Western International China and general manager of Golden Eagle Hotel, Guangzhou Garden Hotel and the Guangdong International Hotel.

He holds a degree in Hospitality Management from Normandale Community College in the United States and a bachelors degree from the University of Toronto. He is also a Certified Hotel Administrator from AHMA.
