Mandarin Oriental, BeijingPierre Barthes and Freda Yu have been hired to manage the opening of the new Mandarin Oriental, Beijing.

Pierre BarthesBarthes, most recently general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Macau, has moved to Beijing to open the Mandarin Oriental, Beijing as its new general manager. A French native, Barthes brings with him a wealth of more than 20 years' experience in the hospitality industry. He joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 1998 and held a variety of senior management positions in the Group's U.S. hotels. Prior to his Macau appointment in 2004, Barthes was resident manager at Mandarin Oriental, New York, where he contributed to the successful opening of hotel.

Freda YuYu is the hotel's new director of sales and marketing. Her knowledge in the China market was acquired through her extensive work experience with a number of renowned international management hotels as director of sales with Shangri-la Dalian and Four Seasons Shanghai. After Four Seasons, she moved to the Fuchun Resort Hangzhou as director of sales and marketing followed by Sofitel JinJiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai and most recently took part in the pre-opening of the Sofitel Wanda Beijing where she oversaw all sales and marketing efforts for the hotel and was instrumental in the launch of the property. In her new capacity, Yu is responsible for all sales and marketing activities covering business development, marketing strategies, revenue management and communication implementation.
