American Airlines will launch its first line between China and the US this April.

The first direct flight that American Airlines will open between the two countries will be from Shanghai to Chicago, and is scheduled to start on April 3.

Starting February 15, American Airlines has begun to offer a RMB2999 round-trip special for this line, which is only about one third of the normal price.

There are as many as as 1.2 million air travelers between China and the US each year. According to a new agreement reached between the two countries in 2004, each party can have up to nine airline companies transport passengers between the two nations.
