Liu Zhijun, head of the Ministry of Railway, says that the Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway, which has been listed as one of the most important projects in China's long-term railway network blueprint, has finally been approved.

Liu said that China's own technology and equipment would be used for the railway project. They plan to raise funds from multiple channels including private capital and foreign investment for the construction.

Liu says that the Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway would be of high significance to improve the transport capacity and the development of China's national economy.
