The second phase of expansion and reconstruction of Beijing Hotel has started. It is expected the construction work will be completed and hotel be put into use in May 2008.

The expansion and reconstruction is part of the project for welcoming the 2008 Olympic Games when Beijing Hotel will serve as a headquarters hotel. The expansion project is located to the north of the current hotel, occupying a total area of 44,100 square meters.

It will be built as a comprehensive property that combines business, serviceds apartment, conference facilities and parking.

Close to Wangfujing Avenue to the east, the project is expected to become a large shopping center for international brands upon completion.
