Shanghai Adjusts Taxi Fee Standard

With the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai has adopted a new taxi fee standard.

Under the new standard, the overall price of taxi rides will go up by 6.7%.

The base fee for the first three kilometers in the downtown area will be increased from RMB10 to RMB11, and additional RMB2.1/km for distance beyond 3km.

Meanwhile, the fee in the suburbs will also be marked up from the current RMB8 to RMB9 for the first three kilometers and RMB2.1/km for distance over 3km.

Shanghai will fix the new pricing machine on 43,000 taxies by the end of the month.

The managerial department has disclosed that in order to maintain a relatively stable pricing structure, they will adjust the price once a year in the future.
