KLM Launches Chengdu Line, Opens Business Club

This week saw the inaugural flight of the Chengdu-Amsterdam line for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and China Southern and the beginning of KLM Club China.

This is the first direct line from southwest China to Europe, and it is jointly operated by KLM and China Southern. There are two scheduled flights each week.

KLM has signed a share-code agreement with Sichuan Airlines and during the initial period, they will share their code on Chengdu-Beijing, Chengdu-Kunming, Chengdu-Chongqing and Chengdu-Xi'an lines.

KLM also recently established KLM Club China, intended specifically for entrepreneurs active in the Chinese business market.

KLM Club China will first be introduced in the Netherlands. Other countries within and outside of Europe will then follow.

Speaking about KLM Club China, deputy CEO Peter Hartman said, Along with other entrepreneurs, KLM sees China as one of the most important growth markets. By establishing KLM Club China, we are offering a valuable platform and taking an important step towards stimulating and further strengthening economic ties with China.
