Seibu Holdings Inc. is considering the sale of all of its unprofitable hotels and other resort facilities by next March, Seibu Holdings President Takashi Goto said.
The facilities may continue operations under different owners and maintain their current employees, Goto said, suggesting the company will make every effort to minimize detrimental impacts on local economies.
Prince Hotels Inc., which oversees the group's hotel and leisure businesses, booked 17.2 billion yen in operating loss in the year through March.
Prince Hotels expects to reduce its operating loss to 2 billion yen during the current business year due mainly to floor remodeling at its mainstay hotels in Tokyo and the Hakone resort in Kanagawa Prefecture.
