Xiang Ping, undersecretary of the Service Department of Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee, has disclosed that the average room rate for a standard room at star-grade hotels during the 2008 Olympic Games will average US$353 per night for 5-star, US$272 per night for 4-star, US$176 per night for 3-star accomodations.

Of the prices, the rate for 3-star hotels is US$4 lower than what Committee promised in 2001.

Xiang says that the prices are made based on a variety of factors, including the current room rates of the hotels, the ranking of hotels, and the demand and supply during the Olympic Games.

Xiang said these prices may fluctuate a bit as a result of currency rate changes between RMB and the US dollar.
