Millennium & Copthorne has formally entered the Chinese market and their first hotel in China, Millennium Hongqiao Hotel Shanghai, is scheduled to open at the end of this month.

The new hotel is located on Yanan West Road and Xie Keling, Director of Marketing at the hotel, has told local media that there will be 369 rooms, a multi-function hall and 9 meeting rooms in the hotel. Positioned as a five-star hotel, it also has a small golf area in order to satisfy the demands from its business guests.

At present, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels owns, asset manages or operates 91 hotels in 15 countries around the world, and they plan to open another 5-star Millennium Hotel in Beijing in 2008.
