Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel was recently host to a charity event with famed chef, Martin Yan. Chef Yan demonstrated his world-famous culinary expertise for over 200 lucky guests. Midway through the evening, he presented an impromptu auction raising additional funds including RMB500 for the first dish prepared live on stage in addition to a bid of RMB1,800 (for a regularly-priced RMB200 knife). RMB46,059 was raised for Safe Kids China, an international affiliate of Safe Kids Worldwide, leading coalitions of community partners to prevent accidental death and injury to children ages 14 and under.
