The latest statistics from the Hangzhou Holiday Office shows that during the recent October Golden Week holiday, scenic spots in Hangzhou grew substantially from last year.

Hangzhou sites received an accumulated 6.40 million tourists, an increase of 24.97% compared with the same period of last year, and achieved RMB2.29 billion in tourism income, increasing by 27.9% year-on-year.

Due to the Mid-Autumn Day which fell on October 6, this year the tourist numbers began to decline on October 5, while in the previous years, the tourist peak days would be October 2-6.

According to the data, travel to Hangzhou's surrounding counties accounted for about half of the total travel industry in Hangzhou with the five counties surrounding the city and the two secenic spots including Xiaoshan and Yuhang received totally 2.464 million tourists.
