The entire stretch of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, which was launched on July 1, will be enclosed by a fence during the coming winter season to ensure the safety of the train's infrastructure.

The railway has already brought many benefits for regions along the line since its opening in July. However, many cattle and sheep herds from the farmland near the railway have caused trouble for the efficient operation of the railway as the animals often come near the trains.

At present, workers are fixing and fastening fences along the line to prepare for the intense winter weather and to ward off animals. After winter, the fence will remain in place.

Apart from building the fence to prevent the herds from entering the rail line, the railway department has signed a commitment with farmers living along the line to keep herds from walking on the railway. In addition, local police will patrol along the railway to conduct regular checks to ensure no herds are close to the route.
