The Chongqing Municipal Tourism Bureau says that Chongqing's government will oversee about RMB1 billion to build the first platinum five-star hotel in the area within this year.

Chongqing Tourism Holding Group and Baoli Construction and Development Company will cooperate to invest RMB1 billion and rebuild the current Chongqing Hotel into a top hotel in the city.

Apart from this luxury hotel, a number of other high-end hotels will also be opened in the city in the next year. This includes the two five-star hotels invested by Guangzhou Hengda Group with RMB2.5 billion, which are respectively located in Bishan and Jianjin and a five-star hotspring resort invested by Hong Kong Huirong International with RMB1 billion.

The Changshouhu International and New Economic Exhibition Center, built by Hong Kong Ruanya Wangke Investment for RMB1.3 billion, and a five-star hotel in the Qianjiangarea invested by Chongqing Longxin Real Estate Group with RMB150 million are also planned to open in the coming months.
