A voice-based electronic tour guide which can speak different foreign languages has been successfully developed in Shanghai and it is expected to be formally launched to the public by the end of this year.

Developed by Acoustiguide Shanghai Company and travel agencies in Shanghai, this e-guide, which looks like a mobile phone, can introduce the information about 100 travel spots in Shanghai in different languages.

Local media reports that number of hotels, such as Xi Jiao Guesthouse Shanghai, St. Regis Shanghai and Shanghai Hotel, and several international travel agencies say they will launch the e-guide system in the year.
