PCCW and Hong Kong International Airport are launching free Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the entire airport.
This move represents the largest wireless broadband coverage available at a major international airport, with wall-to-wall service accessible throughout the Hong Kong International Airport passenger terminal building.
All airport users, including passengers, well-wishers and meeters and greeters, will be able to enjoy free Internet access in every part of the airport via Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, pocket PCs, mobile phones, gaming consoles and other handheld devices. According to a recent study, over 50% of airport users carry a laptop.
PCCW Consumer Group Managing Director Tom Chan said, "Wi-Fi Internet access has been available at the airport since 2003 – but by extending coverage and offering service free to users, we are conveying an important message to all travelers about Hong Kong's determination to be a regional leader in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and innovation."
The PCCW Wi-Fi network provides a convenient and stable environment for airport users to send and receive email, surf the Internet and even run high-speed applications. PCCW Wi-Fi supports a full range of notebooks, PDAs, smartphones and gaming devices to give travelers hassle-free Internet connectivity while on the move.
