A new regulation called Beijing Municipal Hospitality Industry Security Management Regulation will soon be released and implemented to better manage sites that offer lodging and hospitality services in China's capital city.
According to the new regulation, places like saunas and serviced apartments will be included within the hospitality industry and they will be asked to adopt a check-in system for their guests.
At present, there are 1139 bathing and sauna centers which can also offer lodging services in Beijing, and the regulations require that those places should check guests' ID cards or passports and keep a record of them.
The new regulation also says that those who plan to open an inn should apply for a special license from the Public Security department first.
Due to a lack of detailed regulations in the past, there has been no comprehensive legal management for venues like serviced apartments and saunas in Beijing. These new rules will help crackdown on illegal activity like prostitution at saunas and other smaller hotels.
