The upgrading and innovation of Beijing's Badaling Scenic Spot next to the Great Wall will be initiated next year and the project will include building new traffic routes to decrease the traffic pressure during the travel high season.

Badaling Great Wall received 58 million tourists in 2006 and the number is increasing year by year. A representative of Badaling Scenic Spot Management says that three tunnels will be constructed in the scenic spot to connect the two parking lots in order to disperse the traffic during peak hours.

The whole length of the Badaling Great Wall is 7600m, and now 3741m are open to the public, and the other 3800m will be reinforced next year. At present, the reinforced part of 1245m, which lies to the south of the opened part, has been started, and the north part will be started next year. These sections will be closed to the public after the renovation.
