The Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration has reiterated that Beijing will focus on building five major travel projects and 35 scenic spots during the Eleventh 5-Year Period to fully upgrade its travel offferings.

The five major travel projects to be built are the Olympic Games Park, a large-scale amusement theme park, Qianmen – Dashilan Traditional Shopping and Travel Area, "New International Exhibition Centrer" area, and Shichahai historical and cultural travel area.

The 35 scenic spots include those famous travel spots in Beijing, such as Tiananmen Square, the Imperial Palace, Wangfujing Shopping Avenue, Lama Temple, Ditan Temple area, Temple of Heaven, Lugou Bridge, Great Wall, and The Ming Tombs.

The expected cost for the renovation of all these areas has not been fully disclosed and preparatory work is still underway for many of these locations.
