In order to meet the needs for the 2010 World Exposition Shanghai, the Shanghai Municipal Government has worked out a plan for the coming five years to improve the public toilet service in the city.
More public toilets will be built in the Inner Ring area in the following five years. And by the time the construction is completed, a public toilet will be found every 300 meters in the area and every 800 meters in the Outer Ring area.
Mobile toilets located in trucks will be used near public squares, gas stations and the exits of highways.
At present, there are 3468 public toilets in Shanghai, and tourists can find these toilets on a Public Toilet Map that is available at registered tourist help areas.
