Kempinski Hotel and Resorts has promoted Rene Schmitt to the Senior Vice President of China Operations.

Additionally and within his new capacity he will be Managing Director of Key International Hotels Co., Ltd. the joint venture company with Chinese partners of the Beijing Lufthansa Center. With the ongoing growth of the company in this region, Schmitt will be involved in the expansion to provide management and support to all Kempinski hotels rapidly growing within China.

With more than 35 years in the hotel business, Mr. Schmitt has kept a good track record of excellent quality performance and profitability Kempinski Hotels. A native German, Mr. Schmitt has spent the last 12 years with Kempinski Hotels in Beijing, China and Jakarta, and Indonesia. Besides being fluent in German and English, he also speaks some French and Italian.
