The Beijing Tourism Bureau is inviting public bidding for its 138 travel projects, including 58 scenic spots, 31 hotels and inns, and 47 travel agencies. The total value of the contracts are worth more than RMB20 billion.

The hotels and inns that are available for bidding are one and two star locations. In general, their occupancy rates are very low–about 50%-60%.

In order to provide enough beds for the tourists during the Olympic Games 2008, Beijing has decided to improve the service standard of those hotels, so it hopes to attract famous brand hotels to participate in the bidding.
