The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) has determined what should be the average minimum price on 12 different outbound travel packages.
Tourists can compare the official prices with those offered by travel agencies, helping them to make better choices when deciding on their travel plans.
The administration has published a handbook giving the average price for 12 very similar outbound tour packages. It makes reference to charges that can be expected for hotels, dinners and entry to scenic spots.
The aim is to prevent tourists from falling foul of a common practice by travel agents' to cheat travelers of their money.
