According to the secretary general of the Hainan Provincial Tourism Association, the hot spring industry in Hainan has become worse in recent years.
For example, Lanyang Hot Spring and Xinglong Hot Spring are seeing decreasing business even though they are surrounded by many hotels that can potentially send them clients.
At Lanyang, the average rate is currently 60-80RMB per session. In Xinglong, the price is around 50RMB per session, and this includes two breakfasts at a nearby 4-star hotel. Special discounts like these still do not seem to draw large crowds anymore.
Currently, many hotels in Hainan have their own hot spring services, which directly challenges the traditional hot springs business.
Hot spring companies are looking at possibly joining forces soon to find ways to reverse the downward trend.
