Just days after the United States Government announced and then retracted a warning about possible terrorist attacks at China's hotels, it now says it has received credible information that a terrorist threat may exist against official U.S. Government facilities in Guangzhou.

The U.S. Embassy in Beijing says on its website that this threat also may exist for places where Americans are known to congregate or visit, including clubs, restaurants, places of worship, schools or outdoor recreation events.

American citizens in southern China are advised to be aware of their surroundings and remain alert to possible threats.

Last week the Chinese Ministry of Public Security informed the U.S. Embassy in Beijing that Chinese security authorities had determined that the source of a previously reported threat against four and five star hotels in China was not credible.
