In previous years, a large amount of people have been accustomed to going to Tian'an Men Square in the morning to join the flag-raising ceremony on National Day.

Last year 250,000 people attended the ceremony, but this year the number of participants allowed will be limited, with only some citizens and tourists being permitted to go. On October first, special traffic control measures will be adopted in the area around Tian'an Men Square.
