Tanzania has been recognized and approved by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), as senior Tanzania tourism officials are currently in China to market Tanzania's upcoming tourism. Tanzania is taking advantage of China's fast growing tourist industry to market its wildlife, cultural heritage, Mount Kilimanjaro, historical sites and the Indian Ocean beaches to the just opened Chinese market.

Senior marketing officer for the Tanzania Tourist Board Mr. Amant Macha wrote in a fax message from Shanghai, China that Tanzanian delegation is in China will launch tourism marketing campaign and lobby for Chinese tourists.

Mr. Macha said the delegation is made up of seven officials from Tanzania's Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Tanzania Tourist Board, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, Sea Cliff Hotel, Zara Tanzania Adventure Ltd and Tanzania embassy in Beijing, China.

Chinese visitors are not placed among the known tourists visiting Tanzania and Africa as compared to Americans, Europeans, Japanese, Australians and even South Koreans, but since the collapse of communist hard-liners in Beijing, the dynamics has been changing quite rapidly.

This year, China has recognized eight African countries as suitable tourist destinations for the Chinese, and Tanzania became among the short-list of African nations recognized by CNTA as a qualified destination.
