According to the Dongguan Tourism Bureau, there are about 100 star-grade hotels around the city, including 18 five-star hotels.

Dongguan is third after Beijing and Shanghai for the number of high-end hotels it provides to guests. Changping is the area with the largest quantity of star-grade hotels in Dongguan, and it currently has 24, including two five-star and five four-star hotels.

Located at the junction of Beijing-Jiulong Railway, Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway and Guangshen Railway, Changping is an important railway hub in the Pearl River Delta and the Dongguan Railway Station operates scheduled trains to Guangzhou and Shenzhen every thirty minutes as well as non-stop trains connecting the area to Hong Kong.

Dongguan has reportedly more hotels built according to star-grade standards, but they are still waiting for assessments.
