Macau International Airport has welcomed the first flight from Jetstar Asia Airways.
With the addition of Jetstar Asia Airways, Macau International Airport expands to a total of 15 airlines with 25 routes. Liu Suning, executive director of Macau International Airport Co. Ltd said that this will expand passenger and cargo transport by air between Macau and Singapore. Combined with Macau's connecting to more destinations of Mainland China and Jetstar Asia's regional flight network in Southeast Asia, this will provide both Macau's residents and travelers from other areas with a wider range of flight options.
It is a sign that Macau International Airport is gradually becoming more internationalized. In 2008, the airport is expected to maintain a sustainable growth in passenger numbers. It also plans to open more new routes to meet the demands of different market and so improve its air transportation network.
