The Guangxi Airport Management (Group) Company Limited has announced that Baise Airport has merged with the group.

According to local media, Guangxi Airport group has signed a cooperation agreement with Baise government which promises to offer preferential discounts to the group and gives it some operational and flight allowances for the first four years.

Baise Airport is an important part of the regional flight network of Guangxi Airport group. With the addition of Baise Airport, the group now owns six airports including Guilin, Nanning, Liuzhou, Beihai, and Wuzhou. These primarily form a regional network with a central axis on the route from Guilin to Beihai and the two circular routes of Guilin-Wuzhou-Nanning and Guilin-Baise-Beihai.

According to CAAC, Guangxi will invest no less than RMB800 million in airport construction during the 11th five year plan, focusing on the renovation of Nanning Wuwei Airport in order to build it into an international hub targeted at ASEAN countries. Meanwhile, the plan also includes the expansion of Guilin Airport's terminal building, to build Hechi Airport, to renovate Liuzhou, Wuzhou, and Baise airports, to complete the remaining projects of Beihai airport's renovation, and to startup the Leye Airport project. As for routes, CAAC says that it supports airlines in opening routes based on Nanning and Guilin airports throughout the whole country and ASEAN countries as well as connecting to Japan, South Korea, and Western countries, and will arrange in priority the flights from regional airports in Guangxi to major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Currently 24 domestic and overseas airlines have opened 168 routes from Guilin, Nanning, Beihai and Liuzhou to ASEAN countries and eastern, southern, southwest areas of China.
