Regal Hotels International has announced that it will increase the number of hotels it owns to 20 within five years.
Currently, RHI manages five hotels in Hong Kong and two in Shanghai, as well as another one that is scheduled to open in Shanghai Pudong by the end of this year. These eight hotels can provide a total of about 4,900 rooms. The company has also purchased a property in Chengdu for RMB213 million to develop a new five-star hotel project; this will be its ninth hotel.
Yang Biyao, managing director and COO of RHI said that besides first-tier cities, the company intends to expand in some second-tier cities including Dalian, Wenzhou, and Shenyang either by purchasing or managing property. RHI aims to reach a total of 20 hotels in the next five years, focusing on Hong Kong and Mainland China. The company is expected to have several projects implemented in domestic first- and second-tier cities by the first half of this year. In Hong Kong, RHI has renovated its hotels and added 50 rooms.
