{"id":30496,"date":"2004-07-20T07:53:54","date_gmt":"2004-07-19T23:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/2004\/07\/20\/another-beijing-royal-temple-opens-to-visitors\/"},"modified":"2004-07-20T07:53:54","modified_gmt":"2004-07-19T23:53:54","slug":"another-beijing-royal-temple-opens-to-visitors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/cn\/2004\/07\/20\/30496\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Beijing Royal Temple Opens to Visitors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism announced that after three years of repair work, the Imperial Temple of Emperors has fully reopened.&amp;nbsp; The temple, a royal dwelling for the Ming and Qing dynasties is located in the east of the White Pagoda Temple, and has received numerous overseas visitors since it was formally opened to the public in April.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To recover the temple's original status of some 470 years ago, Beijing authorities have invested more than US$36 million (RMB300 million).&amp;nbsp; The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism said that large memorial ceremonies will be held in April each year to turn the Imperial Temple of Emperors into a popular tourist attraction.<\/p>\n<p>The Imperial Temple of Emperors, built in the 9th year of the Jia Jing reign of the Ming dynasty (1530), is China's only well preserved royal temple for worshipping emperors' forefathers.&amp;nbsp; A total of 188 emperors and 80 meritorious generals are given seats in the Temple, which also left over 60 'Jinsi Nanmu' pillars of the Ming dynasty.&amp;nbsp; During the 380 years, from the 11th year of the Jia Jing reign to the end of the Qing dynasty, 662 worshipping ceremonies were held at the temple, making it as important as Tai Temples and Confucius Temples, two other royal temples for Ming and Qing dynasties in Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism is an agency directly under the leadership of the municipal government, BMBT is responsible for the administration of the tourism industry in Beijing.
