{"id":30514,"date":"2004-08-02T08:26:21","date_gmt":"2004-08-02T00:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/2004\/08\/02\/slovakia-lures-chinese-tourists\/"},"modified":"2004-08-02T08:26:21","modified_gmt":"2004-08-02T00:26:21","slug":"slovakia-lures-chinese-tourists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/cn\/2004\/08\/02\/30514\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovakia Lures Chinese Tourists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"113\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/200408-slovakrepublic-pres1.gif\" width=\"150\" align=\"right\">ChinaHospitalityNews recently attended a joint presentation at the Swissotel Beijing by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Touirst Board to begin introducing Chinese media and travelers to Slovakia as a potential tourist destination.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"117\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/200408-slovakrepublic-pres2.gif\" width=\"150\" align=\"left\">Mr. Dusan Novotny, Counsellor of the Embassy and Head of the Trade and Economic Department, together with Mr. Roman Zatko, were present to host the introductory session as well as answer journalist's questions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"102\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/200408-slovakrepublic-pres3.gif\" width=\"150\" align=\"right\">The session began with a presentation by the Slovak Tourist Board of Slovakia's main points of interest, covering geography, demographics, and the arts, as well as specific areas relevant to tourists such as the country's unique culture, its travel industry, cuisine, and famous locations. Afterwards, in front of a packed and rather intrigued audience, a performance was given of traditional Slovakian music.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"121\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/200408-slovakrepublic-pres4.gif\" width=\"150\" align=\"left\">During the following question and answer session, it was clear that journalist's primary areas of concern were the specifics of how to obtain visas, as well as the availability of direct flights to the nation's capital, Bratislava.&amp;nbsp; Currently, while group visas are issued, individual tourist visas are not yet available. Similarly, direct flights from China to Bratislava are not yet in place, although travelers can quite easily fly to Vienna in Austria, which is less than 50km from Bratislava.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"196\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chinahospitalitynews.com\/images\/200408-slovakrepublic-pres5.gif\" width=\"150\" align=\"right\">The presentation was only the first step in what is a significant move by the Slovak Republic, as it begins to carve out a reputation for itself in Asia as a new and exciting European tourist destination.
