Star said the Chinese National Tourism Administration and Ministry of Commerce's landmark decision in favour of the cruise line augured well for its efforts to develop a rapidly growing tourism market.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u0093This significant and encouraging development will widen the scope of our business operations and reaffirms our commitment to further develop the tourism and cruise market potential in China,\u0094 Star CEO Chong Chee Tut said.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities, he said, recognised tourism as \u0093an important pillar of the country's economic development\u0094.<\/p>\n<p>The cruise line made early inroads in China with the setting up of offices in Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai to develop and expand the company's marketing activities on the Chinese mainland in promoting its cruises in the Asia Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>The new agency is expected to launch operations in September, providing domestic and inbound tourism services as well as cruise ticketing services in China.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Star Cruises will set up an international travel agency in Shanghai, becoming the first company to receive approval to operate a totally foreign-owned international travel agency in the strategic Chinese port.
