To accomplish this, South Africa's government has placed a high priority on tourist and tourism related industries. Indaba 2006 is one such activity and is a golden opportunity for SA tour operators and their Chinese counterparts to develop partnerships and strengthen their mutual understanding. It serves as a powerful drive to gear up Chinese tourist arrivals. Indaba is a significant project that South African Tourism happily invests time, money and energy in because it is the engine room of the organization's marketing work," said Moeketsi Mosola, CEO South Africa Tourism.

This year's Indaba, a Zulu word meaning tribal council or meeting, was held at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC Durban) and put on by South African Tourism (SAT).

The many Chinese travel professionals attending the event were eager to learn of the ongoing efforts made by the South African government to ensure a safe trip for tourists, including Chinese tourists.

At a China market dedicated seminar, officials from SATourism and the Department of Foreign Affairs introduced to the audience of Chinese journalists and inbound and outbound tour operators the current safety status, as well as the policies and safety measures put in place throughout the country.

This came on the heals of media workshops that were held in late March in three Chinese cities (Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou) to inform Chinese tourists that South Africa is a safe place to travel and show that the South African government is dedicated to improving tourist security.

Over 25 Chinese journalists and tour operators were invited to 'go for the gold' at Indaba 2006, where they personally experienced the natural beauty, exotic wildlife, exciting tourism resources, and the hospitality of the South African people.

SATourism is planning additional promotional activities for 2006 in key Chinese cities to further capitalize on the nation's tourist potential and entice more Chinese to experience the real wonders of South Africa.

With memories of last year's Nan Fei Total Exhibition in Shanghai still fresh, an even larger-scale event named Nan Fei Mobile will be staged in five Chinese cities in August. During the campaign, a branded truck will travel through China, with South African cultural offerings, giving the audience a small taste of the impressive sensory impact found in South Africa.

Indaba travel show, the largest travel trade exhibition in South Africa, was recently held with a large contingent from China on hand to find travel aprtnerships.

[12723

post-33572","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-english
["GET
