Chanaka Olagama is the China Country Manager for SriLankan Airlines and has been with the company since since 1984. Chanaka has worked in flight operations, airport operations, station management and airline marketing and is now focused on building the airline's brand in the Middle Kingdom.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the biggest challenge that SriLankan Airlines faces in China?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe biggest challenge is the low fares in the market for international travel out of Beijing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How much of an impact has rising fuel prices had on your China routes?<\/strong><br \/>\nRising fuel prices will affect all the routes&#8211;not only in China. But fortunately Chinese travelers have accepted the fuel tax increase by all airlines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is SriLankan Airlines working with its Chinese airline partners?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are working with all Chinese airlines as many passengers do fly on domestic carriers to Beijing to take SriLankan Airlines to various destinations such as Sri Lanka , Maldives, Europe, Middle East and India.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the thing you are most proud of during your tenure of working with SriLankan Airlines in China?<\/strong><br \/>\nI have build up a team who will deliver results at any cost with a great team effort.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How will SriLankan Airlines' cargo business change in Asia through the next few years?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are looking to grow our market share more in China, and as the initial step we will open up our cargo office in Shanghai within two months. We will also commence operating cargo freighter to and from Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you expect inbound and outbound traveler trends to change over the next five years for SriLankan Airlines in China?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are currently getting ourselves known in the market and we have built up a trust with our customers, agents, tour operators. I am confident that every single passenger will choose SriLankan Airlines as their first choice of travel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is your company differentiating itself from competitors who also fly around Asia?<\/strong><br \/>\nValue for Money with well known SriLankan Hospitality on board with the latest state of art Airbus A 330\/340.
