Korean Air also recently added flights to Shanghai, increasing them by 11 to 21.

"This kind of frequency is unique in the U.S. market," according to Korean Air's North American marketing director, John Jackson. "U.S. carriers can't expand their frequencies like this due to limited traffic rights. We have open skies with China and an enormous North American network. This gives us an edge and supports our goal of becoming the preferred airline to China.

Jackson said the Beijing and Shanghai flight increases provide travelers with a choice of either morning or evening arrivals from the U.S. Most planes are equipped with audio/video on demand inflight entertainment systems and most premium class flights feature sleeper suites. By the end of 2007, all Korean Air flights will have cabin upgrades.

Korean Air has at least two daily connecting flights to Beijing and Shanghai from Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Atlanta. Korean Air's other North American gateways, each offering connecting flights to China, are Dallas, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington, DC.

"Next year we're planning on increasing flights to Beijing and Hong Kong, offering three daily flights to each city," Jackson added. "Our increased frequencies to China's major business and tourist centers are gaining popularity with North American travelers. Our planes are full with passengers who are returning with compliments. It's very encouraging."

Korean Air has nearly doubled its passenger capacity to China including increased frequencies to Beijing and Shanghai.

[12723

post-34181","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-english
["GET
